Joshua Timmis works in our office in Immingham (GB)at the Fleet Management and Planning department.

1. What's your role at the Den Hartogh Logistics office in Immingham?

I actually have two different main tasks at the moment: I am in Fleet Management and I am involved in Planning. That's just how it evolved over the past few months.

As a planner I look after the day by day jobs of the English Trucks. The fleet aspect is arranging services and repairs alongside David, who is my colleague. Part of my job is to issue order numbers, keep record of services and repairs etc. I'm also involved in keeping an eye on fuel and ad blue. I look at the consumption and compare it to the rest of the fleet.

2. How is it working out, your first professional job?

At first, the mornings were different, as in college I could stay up late and sleep in. Of course there are always people who have to get up even earlier, like the drivers at Den Hartogh Logistics, but still… I'm used to it now, though. I enjoy this job a lot, it's a nice job to start with after college.

3. How do you experience the culture of Den Hartogh Logistics?

I think Den Hartogh really is a friendly organization; everyone, on the phone and in the office is very willing to help you. You can still sense the family company. I’ve been out for a drink with the staff both here and in Rozenburg; it is nice to go out and have a laugh, as they are all easy to get along with and talk to.

4. What do you particularly like about your current job?

All the different aspects, the different characteristics of trucks and trailers, which type of goods, require which type of equipment. There is a lot to learn. It's sometimes hard to remember every detail, but I enjoy it a lot. I like to learn, which is an advantage in this job.

5. Did you visit other Den Hartogh Logistics offices?

Yes, I visited the Rozenburg office once. It was a nice atmosphere, everyone in the same room, very nice. I will visit Rozenburg again for a short training for helping me at my Fleet Management tasks, to get to learn new programs, etc. I think Den Hartogh Logistics stimulates that kind of exchanging knowledge. Personally, I'm quite happy where I am now, and I’m looking forward to the coming months and the tasks ahead of me. I like the fact Den Hartogh Logistics is situated all across Europe and that I don’t just stay in England, as they will send me to Holland for training and who knows what the future brings!

6. Where do you picture yourself in ten years, professionally speaking?

For now Den Hartogh Logistics gives me the opportunity to learn and that's what I want to do. In turn, getting better at my job. In ten years time, I want to have developed my learning and understanding of my job and be the best I can be!
