Rotterdam, 14 October 2025 – Den Hartogh is taking another important step towards sustainable logistics with the introduction of its Book & Claim system for trucking lanes. This certified approach allows customers to benefit from real, traceable CO₂ reductions within Den Hartogh’s expanding network of Green Corridors.
At the heart of the system lies the principle of mass balance, ensuring renewable and conventional fuel are managed together transparently. For Den Hartogh, this involves ISCC-certified HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a renewable diesel alternative that is physically used within our own fleet. Every litre is accurately tracked and verified, ensuring that what is allocated as “renewable” to our customers truly represents real fuel consumption and impact.
The Book & Claim process is independently audited by Normec Verifavia and fully aligned with the latest Smart Freight Center standards. This certification provides our customers with full confidence that every CO₂ certificate corresponds to genuine, verifiable renewable fuel use.
By combining this method with our operational expertise, Den Hartogh enables customers to achieve measurable emission reductions. All while maintaining the same safety, reliability, and performance they expect from us.
The new system also plays a key role in the development of Green Corridors, where all partners across the transport chain contribute to verifiable sustainability results. Den Hartogh covers the pre- and post-carriage with physical HVO through mass balance, while deep-sea partners apply certified Book & Claim for the ocean leg.
By linking these elements under one transparent framework, each shipment clearly shows its CO₂ reduction share from both road and sea transport. Together with our partners, Den Hartogh is building end-to-end Green Corridors that make low-carbon logistics a practical reality today.
